Around 2 weeks ago we launched our fundraising project for the summer; raising money for The Amani Family Centre in Uganda. Since then we have SMASHED our first in person event!
On the 21st of June we held a fundraiser social and raffle for 30 people. There were some amazing raffle prizes (including some very boujie olive oil), a barbecue, prayer station and all round good vibes!
Everyone was so generous and keen to support Amani meaning that our current total stands at....
£448.00!
Which is FANTASTIC and much more than we were expecting so early on! That said we are not stopping there; as students travel home we are launching a new event that will span the summer which you can get involved with wherever you are!
Since opening, The Amani Family Centre has helped mothers give birth to over 700 healthy babies. So through JLB's Strava club page we have set ourselves the challenge to walk/run/cycle/swim/gallop/cartwheel etc. 700km as a group over the summer.
Its an amazing way to get out and enjoy the (hopefully!) sunny British weather whilst spreading awareness about our fundraising and the work of Amani with friends and family. For instance you could ask your friends to donate £1 to our Just Giving Page for every kilometre you cover.
This goes back to what Richard said about setting the overall fundraising target as your own personal target - so however much you decide to challenge yourself is up to you!
If you would like to get involved with reaching our 700km goal search 'JLB Amani Summer Fundraiser' on Strava clubs and join us! Or click on the links below to join or donate :)
